It’s natural to worry. When faced with the unknown, and the ongoing threat of COVID-19, it’s understandable why so many of us feel depressed or anxious, or are self medicating to deal with these feelings. But using drugs or alcohol (or sex, or food, or shopping, etc.) only provides temporary relief, and the feelings of anxiety always return. There is another way. And therapy can help.
I use many traditional forms of psychotherapy in conjunction with creative arts therapies to help you explore your strengths, identify coping skills, and find hope and meaning in life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. Through mindfulness, meditation and creative arts therapies I will guide you through the process of grief and healing.
If you or someone you love suffers from addictions, your life can seem unmanageable. Attempts at control can seem futile. I believe there are many different paths to recovery.Together we will find the right path for you to free yourself from the affects of addiction and find peace of mind.
I believe there's more than one path to recovery. Together we will explore different approaches and find the treatment that works best for you. I am passionate about healing through creative arts therapy, and have first hand experience of the transformative powers of expressing and discovering myself through art and music.
It is my belief that our souls want us to heal and be whole, and that there is a conspiracy of 'good' in our lives that supports our journey to wellness.
I am a licensed board certified Creative Arts Therapist and a Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor. I have Advanced DBT skills and training in CBT and Trauma Informed Care and can provide you with the skills you need to get through whatever life throws at you. I also employ a variety of holistic interventions like meditation , yoga and mindfulness to help you stay grounded throughout your day. I have extensive training in the treatment of addictions and codependency with a special focus on Adult Children of Alcoholics. Together we will find the path to recovery that works best for you. We will work on integrating all the parts of yourself to live as your most authentic self. My goal is to help you find peace of mind.
"I don't know how to draw. "
Art therapy does not require any art skills. It's about associations with color, and form, and creating images that represent your inner life and have personal symbolic meaning to you.
"Can therapy help me"?
Being able to admit and articulate your concerns is the beginning of your healing process. Venting your feelings and expressing opinions with a supportive listener can improve your self esteem, provide insight, and help you find solutions .
"What's this going to cost me?"
I accept Cigna Insurance. I also offer a sliding scale depending on your income and situation. Most therapy sessions are between $75 and $150 for 45 minutes.
"I know what needs to be done. I just have to do it."
Exactly. Without support and motivation following through can be challenging. Therapy can help you clarify your goals, identify obstacles, and create strategies to help you achieve your desires.
